Prashant BhakuniProduct and interface designer
I design software by understanding it before I draw it.
Four years designing product and interface work, and a year in QA before that.
The QA year is the part most designers do not have, and it changed how I work. Testing software teaches you where things break — the states nobody specified, the flows that only fail on a slow connection, the edge case that was always going to happen and was never designed for. I look for those now before the design exists rather than after it ships.
Most of what I am good at is the part before the pixels: interviews, competitive research, and working out what the problem actually is. Design decisions get easy once that part is honest.
I am drawn to ops and internal tools — the software people have to use rather than choose to. The constraints are real, the users are specific, and nobody has designed the thing twice.
I am based in Haldwani, in Uttarakhand, and work with teams anywhere.
